You are planning the vacation of your dreams to an accessible location. You have already worked through the difficult parts: finding an accessible location, booking your ticket, as well as an accessible room, and even considering accessible transportation for when you get to your dream destination. However, a situation has occurred, and you can’t take your motorized wheelchair with you. Maybe it needed repairs, maybe you wanted to lighten your travel load, or maybe you didn’t want to risk taking your power chair or scooter on an airplane in case it got damaged. Whether you are traveling by air or by sea, there are different opportunities to rent a motorized wheelchair. Renting a mobility product, such as an electric wheelchair, ensures your vacation goes a lot smoother!
Renting Through a Local Provider
In just a few simple steps, you or your loved ones can search for a provider that offers rentals on our provider locator.
Visit our website, pridemobility.com
Click on the Find a Dealer button in the upper middle part of the homepage to go to our Pride Dealer Locator
Enter the ZIP code of your destination, check the box, and hit search
You’ll see a list of authorized Pride mobility product providers near your ZIP code.
You can adjust the mileage box to find a provider that is as close as five miles or as far as 100 miles from the ZIP code you entered
The search results of providers include the provider name, address and phone number, as well as if they offer rentals. If they offer rentals, there will be a category in bold that says “Rentals”, along with a list underneath the heading that contains which products are available for rent. After obtaining the provider’s information, you can choose to contact the provider yourself, or request to be contacted. Just click the “Request to be Contacted” button on the right and fill out the form. The provider will then contact you directly.
Renting on a Cruise Ship
If you are going on a cruise and are looking to rent an electric wheelchair or mobility scooter, there are providers that work with different cruise lines to offer rentals and make going on cruises more accessible. Special Needs at Sea and Scootaround, are two companies that supply wheelchairs, scooters, and power chairs to cruise passengers. To learn more about price quotes on scooter or power wheelchair rentals for your cruise, visit the companies’ websites and contact them directly.
Renting at the Abilities Expo
Some events will have motorized wheelchairs and mobility scooters available to rent. One example of such an event is the Abilities Expo. The Abilities Expo is a three-day event for anyone: people with disabilities, their families, caregivers, seniors and healthcare professionals. During this time, there are a variety of products and services showcased to attendees with the goal of introducing opportunities to enrich lives through different technologies. Loaner scooters are available during the expo on a first-come, first-serve basis, so be sure to check out the scooter loaner area!
While you’re at it, you can also visit the Pride Mobility booth to check out our latest innovations. To learn more about the Abilities Expo and which dates you can connect with us at one of them, click here.
Whether you are a loyal Pride Mobility power wheelchair or mobility scooter user, or someone who is looking to try out our products, you can travel smart by renting a scooter or wheelchair. We wish you safe and happy travels!
NOTE: If you are planning to travel in the near future and need to rent a product, we recommend checking first with providers about their COVID-19 procedures.
